Description

Antique Georgian Period Channel Islands Mahogany Wardrobe and dating from around 1780. ConstRucted from quality mahogany it has a moulded cornice top above a deep frieze and with two full length panelled doors . Each door with a moulded panel to the top above three false drawer fronts with brass handles. It has lovely brass escutcheons with working key. Internally there are original hooks and hanging rail. It is raised on bracket feet and completely dismantles and is of excellent quality.

CHANNEL ISLANDS WARDROBE
Channel Island Wardrobes were inspired by the French Armoire and were made with the ease of moving them about the house in mind rather than taking them on campaign. The sides have tenons to both the top and bottom, fitting to mortice joints to the base and cornice. When the material covered, panelled back board is unscrewed from the sides, the cornice can be lifted off and in turn the sides with hinged doors from the base. To disassemble it further, the doors can be unscrewed from their hinges.
With a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
