Description

Superb Antique Mahogany Wardrobe Compactum by James Shoolbred of Tottenham Court Road, London. The company James Shoolbred and Co. started producing very high quality furniture in the 1870’s and continued through until they ceased trading in 1931. This wardrobe, along with all of Shoolbreds furniture, shows some of the finest cabinet making skills of the Period. The drawers have beautifully hand cut dovetails and have superb quality, original, solid brass handles. It has a cornice top with deep frieze with fine inlaid stringing above a single bevelled mirrored door with brass handle and with internal hanging rail. There are two small doors to the top with striking oval panels to the centre set within cross cut panels with fine stringing and brass handle with three internal mahogany sliding trays. There are two short drawers over three long graduating drawers all of which are mahogany lined with brass handles and have cross banded and strung edges. It stands on a deep plinth base and separates for ease of transporting.
